• Welcome! I'm Faye and I have been capturing and preserving life's important moments for over 18 years. Over the years I have photographed a variety of subjects. However, I'm most passionate about families and weddings. I'm confident my experience, compassion for others and my obsession for gorgeous light will result in beautiful heirloom photos to be cherished for lifetimes to come. If you are new to the site, peek through my portfolio. Or you may want to scroll down through the blog to view my most recent work along with some of my personal adventures. Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I’m sure you recognize this adorable and fun family as they are not new to the Faye Sommer Photography blog!  Click here for their session from last year.  I’ve been their family photographer for many years and I look forward to their session each year!  Natalie had mentioned the pretty yellow flowers, in a field just outside of Tipp City for this session.  I had been eyeballing the same field and had just shot a senior session there days before.  It’s such a pretty field!  Some fields are full of ugly weeds…but this is a blend of beautiful tall grasses and pretty yellow wildflowers.   Between coordinating  our schedules and catching beautiful light that meant I only got about 40 minutes to shoot with them.  AND we added their cute dog, Stella for a couple of shots.  Folks I usually allow 1- 1& 1/2 hours for family sessions!  I had to hustle!  I worked my magic and we were able to pull it off.  It helps that their kids are really well behaved.  But I have tricks up my sleeves for younger kids that aren’t as great at listening.

They laughed at my jokes, followed along to my posing ideas and we were able to get what feels like a full session in half the time.  Natalie is secretly hoping for a snow scene family session this winter…..and frankly so am I.  That would be so beautiful!!!  Fingers crossed over here Nat that the conditions line up and our schedules work!  Photographing Fall and Winter in Southwest Ohio can be SO unpredictable.   I’ve loved the warm temps…but it’s like September and August switched.  Thanks again Natalie, Jason, Taylor, Aiden and Maddie!  It’s always an honor and so much fun to photograph you guys!!!

I still have a few slots left for Dayton area family Fall sessions!  Contact me if you’d like to get on the books. tipp city ohio family photographyohio black and white family photography tipp city family photography with dogtipp city ohio fall family photographytipp city ohio family photography flower fields

Hello Ohio!  Meet Katy!  This Gorgeous girl is a Senior at Butler High School!  Katy is originally from Texas and she has the CUTEST southern accent!  I hope living in Ohio doesn’t take that away from you Katy because I love it!

Katy is my neighbor and I’ve gotten to know her a little since she moved to Tipp City!   I was so excited for her session as I knew she’s be a beauty in front of the camera!  Plus I always get to know the people I photograph as we walk around and chat between sets.  For her session we walked AND drove…….actually we went ALL around Tipp City!   There was a small surprise pop up storm that we were literally driving around altering our locations as we dodged the rain and thunder!  A big THANK YOU to her Aunt Cynthia for being our chauffeur, umbrella and reflector holder.   Katy’s Aunt CC is also from Texas.  She’s a wonderful friend and a good lady to have in your crew.  I found a few new locations ideas for this session….but I wasn’t sure how to go about getting permission for one.   Luckily Cynthia’s natural southern charm simply asked the gentleman on site about us shooting the truck.   Luckily we were giving full permission.  As you will see if you scroll to the bottom.  We took full advantage of that and talked Katy into climbing up on some old trucks.  I loved everything about this session.  From the weeping willows and cat tales, the wood bridge at her granny’s house, yellow flower field and rusty old Ford trucks!   This sweet girl was able to pull off any setting!  And can we talk about her old school glamour vintage look?  Such a Beauty!   Thank you again Katy for a wonderful session and being up for trying all my ideas!  Okay….most of my ideas….those trucks were pretty dirty and she wasn’t so sure about climbing or sitting on them at first!  But I’m so glad we talked her into it!  Here are some of my favorites from our Senior session together!tipp city ohio senior photographybutler high school senior photographerhollywood glamor senior photographydayton ohio senior photography flower fieldsbutler high school senior photographyvintage ford truck senior photographyDayton ohio senior session vintage trucksTipp city ohio photography old ford trucks
